Episode 16 Part 2

Tragedy and Triumph

        Last we saw our friends they had arrived in a strange new city and met some strange new friends.  These strange new friends were called gargoyles and their friends Elisa Maza, David, Fox, and Alexander Xanatos, and Owen Burnett.  Just as they were settling into the rooms, exhausted from their fight with Birtie and from the late hour, Rini and Cassie fell ill and were taken back to the room where both groups had told their stories and were lain down on the couches as we enter we find Skippy and Diana curled up on or near the girl they were supposed to guard with everyone watching over them and trying to find a way to wake them up again.  Meanwhile in King Sabors palace of evil.  BIRTIE! King Sabor yelled to bring his servant running.

Yes, my master. Birtie said as she bowed in front of him.

What happened to your plan? I thought you were to finally catch the Chibi Scouts? he asked.  And how could you let them find the last of the Chibi Scouts?

I am sorry master, but I have found a way to get rid of them one by one. Birtie said as she cowered just a bit.  I have teamed up with a gargoyle in New York who happens to be a sorceress and she has helped me to concoct a virus that will only affect those who can become Sailor Scouts, but they have to be under sixteen.  Soon they will start falling one by one until they all are sick with the virus.  Birtie exclaimed with a bit more confidence.

How will this virus take down the Chibi Scouts? King Sabor asked a bit skeptical at this plan.

Well first I would have to ask the gargoyle, master.

Well, the plan seems like it may work, but do not forget that this is your last chance and I will not tolerate another failure from you. Birtie looked down at the floor and shuffled her feet so little that even King Sabor didnt notice.

Dont worry master I will not fail you. Birtie said putting her fist to her chest and bowing her head.  I must not fail King Sabor once again, my life depends on it.

Back at the tower the two girls were still out and their fevers were not going down. This is my fault. Thought Skippy as he looked down at Cassie who still had not woken up.  If I had been protecting her like I was supposed to she never would have gotten sick. Skippys train of thought was derailed as Amanda took out Rinis palmtop computer and started to scan the two very sick girls from head to toe.  As she finished she started to get a very confused look on her face.

There seems to be a strange form of virus in both their systems and it isnt any known virus that my database can classify. She said as she looked at the others reactions.  There also seems to be a strange aura coming from the virus.

I think there may be a way to find out about that aura from an expert. Xanatos said as he thoughtfully stroked his beard as he left the room.

Later Xanatos came back with his most trusted and loyal assistant Owen Burnett.  I think he may be able to help us. Xanatos said as he gestured towards Owen.

How will he be able to help them? Serena asked stepping forward a bit.  Angela stepped forward with her and put a taloned hand on Serenas shoulder.

There is more to him then meets the eye. She said trying to comfort the future mother.

Sir. Owen said looking to Xanatos.

Its alright Owen. Alexander could use the lesson anyway.

AS you wish sir. As Owen finished saying that he began to transform and when he was done in the place of Owen Burnett stood the most mischievous child of Oberon ruler of the third race, Puck the trickster.  PUCKS BACK! he exclaimed as he usually did.  So what exactly do you need me to do. Puck asked a group of very confused and a bit frightened scouts.

I believe that there is a strange aura surrounding a virus in these two girls. Xanatos told the trickster.

So you think it may be a magical aura.

Thats why I brought you up here. So is there anything you can do for them. Xanatos said gesturing towards the sick girls.

Well let me check them out and Ill tell you if theres anything I can do.  While he flew over to the girls and started to check them out.  Amanda was suddenly surrounded by Jesse, Kristi, Diana, Jay, and Flame Sniper.

Who is Puck? They all ask her at the same time.

Well the only Puck that I know of is the one from literature.  Puck is a mischievous magical character who is part of the third race and is a servant of Oberon and his wife and queen of the fairies, Titania. Amanda said as the others look at her like shes an encyclopedia.

Wow, I dont think I could have explained that better myself. Puck said as he finished examining the two girls.

Have you found the problem? Goliath asked already getting annoyed with Puck.

Yes, I was just getting to that, my Goliath has a short fuse today.

PUCK! A lot of them yelled getting very annoyed with the mischievous imp.

Okay! It seems that there is just as you thought, a virus with a magical aura which I think is a combination of a virus and a spell from the Grimorum Machnorum. Puck said finally getting to the point.

In other words giving them an aspirin and sending them to bed wont help. Elisa said sarcastically.

Exactly. Puck stated surprised that someone was actually listening to him.

If the grimorum is involved then that can only mean one thing. Broadway exclaimed.

Demona! Goliath growled as his eyes started to glow.

Mother. Angela whispered.

Whoa! Down big guy. Elisa said as she grabbed at Goliaths arm and hugged it a bit, which calmed him down a bit and made his eyes stop glowing.

But thats not all that is part of the virus.  There is also a negative energy to it. Puck said as to where everyone could hear.

The Negaverse! All the scouts yelled.

We must work together to find the cure. Serena said as she looked up from her daughter lying prone on the couch.  We must find the cure. I want my daughter back! Elisa let go of Goliaths arm and went to the already crying mother.

Ill go and help find the cure so that you can stay and watch over Rini. Eric said as he looked at his love lying very sickly on the couch.  And if we need help we can always call you on the communicator. He added, as Serena was about to object.

I want to go too! exclaimed Skippy.  Everyone but the scouts look around to see who said that.  All their gazes rest on Skippy who is still sitting beside Cassie.  I want to help cure Cassie.

Is it just e or did that dog just talk. Elisa asked to make sure she wasnt insane.

Yes I can talk and so can Diana, Jay, Flame Sniper, and Artemis. Skippy said getting impatient.  Serena, could you watch over Cassie while Im out.

Of course I will Skippy. Ill also have Diana, Jay, Flame Sniper, and Artemis to help me. Serena said with softened eyes.

Lasses, I think we should be going now so we can find Demona. Hudson said as he looked in the night sky.

Hudson is right.  We must find Demona and correct the wrong that she has committed. Goliath told all that were listening.

We will have to be carried if you all are going to fly. Jesse said as she looked out the window and noticed the height.

Hudson and myself will carry Elisa and Bronx and the trio can carry the Chibi Scouts. Goliath said.

What about Eric? Jesse asked.

Dont worry about him, Serena said looking at the girls that werent sick.  If youve ever seen how Tuxedo Mask can jump then youll know hell be fine. She said with a slight smile on her face.

Now that all of that is settled you should start searching.  They will steadily decline until they are completely gone. Puck had finally changed back into Owen and told them the last bit of news.  At this Elisa picked up Skippy who had been sitting at her feet and then Goliath picked her up and completely spread his wings.

Angela, you stay and help Serena. He told his daughter as he jumped out the window.

Yes father. Angela said as each of the trio picked up a Chibi Scout who had transformed right when Owen said there wasnt much time.  Right then Eric puled out his white rose and turned into Chibi Tuxedo Mask.  He then followed the others out the window and into the dark night, but not without first giving Rini a kiss on the forehead and whispering something into her ear.

Meanwhile in an abandoned building on the eastern side of the city, we find a lone female gargoyle staring of into the dark night.  As she stands there a cloud of smoke forms behind her and Birtie appears behind her.  How goes the plan, Demona?

I wasnt able to put an age limit on the virus, but I was able to load the virus into my nanonat and was able to use a remote control to sting just the right people that you wanted to take ill with the virus.  Demona said as she walked over to a computer station in the room and brought up a video clip showing Birtie what she meant.

Is there a cure in case an accident happens? Birtie asked questioningly.

Yes, but I am the only one who has it and knows the formula. Demona answered smugly with a very evil grin.  Little did they both know they had three sets of eyes watching them from outside the window in the shadows.  As both Demona and Birtie left the room a small but agile form came in through a small hole in the window and unlatched the lock on the inside of the window.

Good work Skippy. Elisa says as she and Goliath hopped into the room form the ledge on the side of the building.

I agree, but we must retrieve the cure for the Chibi Scouts. Goliath said being very serious.

Not if we can help it! exclaimed Demona as she raised a gun to eye level and aimed it at the three.

At the same time at the tower, Serena and Angela are caring for Rini and Cassie as Diana, Jay, Flame Sniper, and Artemis look on worriedly.

I wish there was something we could do to help them papa. Diana said nearly in tears as Jay came over to comfort her as she talked to her father.

Now you know the life of a guardian to a Sailor Scout. Artemis said as he looked into his daughters saddened face and was reminded of Lunas face the time that Serena had been put into a deep sleep and they where about to lose her until Darien showed up.  Just then a very tired Lexington carried in a very unconscious Sailor Chibi Venus.

What happened to her? Angela asked as she took Chibi Venus from Lexington.

We were gliding along, looking for Demona, and then all of a sudden she started to shiver and she passed out so I brought her back here. Lexington explained a little out of breath.

Well one thing we need to do is keep her transformed so her body can fight the virus better. Serena said as Angela laid Chibi Venus on a cot and laid a cool cloth on her forehead.

Back at the abandoned building.  Demona found our friends sneaking in and pointed a laser gun at them. Looking for this. Demona asked as she held up a vile with a greenish yellow liquid inside.

The antidote! Elisa gasped.

Yes, and this is the only vile.  The formula is right here. Demona replies as she points to her head after setting the vile on the table.  Skippy eyes the vile with desperation.

Ive got to get that vile so we can cure Cassie and the others.

This is the last time you will interfere with my plans. She said as she raised the gun to eye level and started to aim at the human she hated the most, Elisa.  I think Ill get rid of your human friend first. Just then something flew out of the shadows and hit Demonas gun.

How dare you make innocent young girls sick! What have they ever done to you? I will not stand to have you do this any longer. I am the protector of Sailor Chibi Moon who is Neo Princess Serenity of Crystal Tokyo in the thirtieth century.  I am Chibi Tuxedo Mask and Prince Eric of the kingdom of Mercury and I will punish you. Chibi Mask yelled as his Mercury symbol started to glow and his cloths changed to his prince armor.  As this was happening Skippy was sneaking over to and onto the table that had the vile, Birtie appeared behind the table.

Demona, the dog has the vile. She exclaimed.  As Demona turned Skippy threw the vile to Elisa, who caught it, put it in her pocket, and then zipped her pocket.  Then Prince Eric threw out dozens of white roses and just as Skippy hopped away from the table Eric called out his attack.

WHITE ROSE BOMB EXPLODE! As he called that out all the roses he had thrown started to explode.  Right when the roses started to explode, Demona aimed at Skippy with her gun.

This is your fault! she yelled as he fired.

YELP! Skippy cried as he went down.  Birtie quickly tried to disappear in her usual cloud of smoke, but not without getting seriously hit by the explosion.  Prince Eric quickly grabbed Skippy and jumped out the window and onto another buildings roof and was followed by Goliath who had scooped up the semi-startled Elisa into his arms and flew out the window.

Back at King Sabors palace, Birtie was just arriving from her latest failure.  Normally she would arrive alone, she would go to her quarters and she would clean herself up, and then meet with King Sabor to explain herself.  This time she was not alone when she arrived.  Jet was there waiting for her.  What are you doing here Jet? Birtie asked a bit wary of Jets presence.

King Sabor sent me to give you a message. He said a she made a large blast of energy in his hand behind his back.

And what would that message be? she asked now realizing how much trouble she was in.

We dont tolerate failures! he calmly stated as he shot the blast right at her and smirked as her eyes grew wide and the blast destroyed her as she was about to scream.  "Now to meet with King Sabor." he said even calmer than he was before.  After looking at the ashes that used to be Birtie for a moment he turned around and disappeared.

Meanwhile at the tower with our friends, Eric, Goliath, Elisa, and a limp Skippy came through the window.  Did you find the cure? Serena asked in a very tired voice.  Elisa unzips her pocket, reaches in and pulls out the vile with the greenish yellow liquid.  Owen walks up to her and Elisa hands it to show him.  Owen takes the vile over to the computer and waits while it analyzes it.

This is indeed the cure for the virus. He says after the computer is finished analyzing the liquid.  I will administer it immediately.  Owen reaches into a drawer and pulls out a needle.  He then injects each Chibi Scout even the ones who arent sick so that they dont take any chances.

Hours later Rini awoke to find herself in the arms of a sleeping Eric as well as a sleeping Serena sitting beside the couch she was lying on.  As she stirred Angela turned around and noticed that Rini was awake and looked confused but glad to be in Erics arms again.  She taps Elisa on the shoulder and Elisa turns around and smiles as she sees that Rini, Cassie, and Chibi Venus are awake and that Rini is in the arms of Eric who is just now waking up to find a smiling Rini lying in his arms.  RINI! he yelled as he hugged her body close to his.  When he finally pulled away everyone realized that the girls were awake and smiled.  Eric looks into Rinis face.  You had us really worried especially me!  He told her sternly.  Rini gets a content yet mischievous look.

Ill do anything and everything to get into your arms. She said with a grin as she leans back into his embrace once again.

All you have to do is be yourself, Rabbit Head. Eric said as she once again looked at his face and their eyes locked as his head lowered and their lips met.

Uh-hum! they hear behind them and they end the kiss.  We are back her ya know! said Kristi as she smiled at the two.

Wheres Skippy?! exclaimed Cassie as she sat up and looked around.  Eric looked down at the floor.  Elisa, completely understanding walks over and sits down beside Cassie.  Wheres Skippy? she asks again with tears in her eyes as she looks at Elisa.

Skippy helped us to find and get the cure to help all of you. AS we were getting the cure Skippy took a laser blast to his chest. Im afraid he doesnt have much longer. Elisa said sympathetically to Cassie.

I wanna see him. Where is he? Cassie says more tears filling her eyes.

Hes right over here. Angela tells her.  Cassie runs over to where Angela indicated.  When she reaches him she see the bandages wrapped around Skippys midsection and there is a big red spot where he was shot and the blood seeped through.  She saw how much blood he had lost and knew what was coming.

How did you get yourself into this? she asks him trying not to cry.  Skippy opens his eyes and looks at her weakly lifting his head.

II had to save you and the others. It was my duty. You will always have me with you. It is time to say good bye, my friend. He said as his head flops back down.

Ill miss you so much. I love you Skippy. She says as she hugs him and his eyes close one last time, but not before he whispers

We will meet again.
